Frequently Asked Questions

Who can join the league?
Our league is currently open to adults (21+) of all skill levels - from beginners to experienced players. No prior dodgeball experience is required!

What if I have never played dodgeball before?
Welcome! Many of our current players joined with little to no experience! Boston Dodgeball League is a great way to: stay active, meet new people, have fun in a low-pressure environment! We love new players!

How do I register?
Depending on the league format, you can register as an individual free agent, with a full team, or with a partial team (we'll help fill remaining spots). Registration is completed through our website under the 'registration' tab.

How long is each league season?
Most leagues run 6 weeks + playoffs with some exceptions (e.g., weather, venue closures, etc.). The board will do its best to communicate schedule changes well ahead of time.

Are there different divisions?
Yes! Our she/they league is here to stay. Our BYOT leagues also tend to be our most competitive. On the horizon, we have an intermediate league in the works - TBD!

How often do The Throw Down tournaments occur?
The goal is to have Throw Down tournaments run on a quarterly basis; however, the board works with other local and national dodgeball organizations and will attempt to avoid schedule conflicts whenever possible.

What are safety measures?
We take safety seriously and have several safeguards in place. There are clear sportsmanship and conduct policies in place. Pre-league rules briefing occurs for all players prior to the start of leagues (and open gyms for new players). There will be one board member present at every BDL sanctioned event. All participants acknowledge and agree to league safety policies upon registration. First aid kits and emergency procedures are also available on-site.
